Background

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) examination to recruit candidates for the posts of Enforcement Officer (EO), Accounts Officer (AO), and Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC).
The EPFO comes under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. These positions are highly respected Group B (EO/AO) and Group A (APFC) posts in the central government setup, responsible for implementing and monitoring labour laws, financial management, and social security administration.

The exam is conducted in two stages:

  1. Written Test (Objective Type)
  2. Interview (Personality Test)

The syllabus and pattern are designed to assess candidates’ general awareness, reasoning ability, and understanding of Indian economy, social security, and industrial relations.


Exam Pattern

1. For EO/AO Post:

  • Type: Objective (Offline Mode)
  • Total Marks: 300
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deduction for wrong answers

2. For APFC Post:

  • Type: Objective (Offline Mode)
  • Total Marks: 300
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 mark deduction for wrong answers

The interview for both posts carries 100 marks and tests overall personality, communication, and subject knowledge.

  • Concept and Importance of Social Security
